When you own a glass patio table, you know how beautiful it looks when it is crystal clear and clean! You also know how quickly it gets dirty with pollen, bird poop, and dust! It becomes a deterrant to actually using it. But with the EnviroCloth and Window Cloth, you’ll have it sparkling again in no time!
Ready for your Italian lesson of the day? The definition of “al fresco” is “in the fresh air.” So, to “dine al fresco” simply means that you are eating outdoors. This can bring to mind picnics, yet for me “al fresco” encompasses having a patio space to enjoy dining outside at home. Proving that you can find an article on just about anything, WikiHow tackles the subject of how to go about dining at home.
A view of our simply decorated covered deck area.
After reading the article, I am convinced our outdoor dining space fits most of their suggestions. Having a large covered deck complete with sunshade is a great Midwest location. Our table fits our family. We even have a favorite outdoor meal (more on that later on in this post!) Other than my decorations possibly being overly simplistic and needing to stock up on some Citronella, we should be dining al fresco for six months out of the year. Yet we rarely have taken advantage of eating on our deck.
The main reason: our glass table. How lovely this expansive table looks at first glance. Plenty of space to set down serving dishes. Plenty of room to eat. Plenty of pollen.
The very trees that provide us such lovely shade spread out their golden powder all over our dining surface. With several of us having seasonal allergies, this does not make for pleasant dining conditions. You might be wondering why we simply do not wipe it down. Grabbing our old blue towel, we wipe away. This is the result.
Debating whether we made the table better or worse, we might dine outside once or twice before needing to start the process all over again. Until Norwex.
Can you tell where I used a Norwex cloth and where I used a towel?
Giving each one of my four kids a compact Enviro Cloth from the TRAVEL PACK, I was not above a bit of bribery to get some cleaning assistance. My oldest decided that he really liked his new small Envirocloth so much that he started cleaning like crazy. I could hear him going around the house saying, “Wow!” (No, the cleaning spree did not last indefinitely, but I did enjoy the unasked-for assistance while it lasted!) One of his initial projects was cleaning up our patio set after winter. The results were staggering!
I put the cloth to practice myself this spring, and I could tell a definitive difference between my old blue towel and my NORWEX ENVIRO CLOTH. Since the cloth is BacLock™, finally I was cleaning up the pollen as opposed to spreading the golden dust everywhere. Add the WINDOW CLOTH as a polisher and suddenly you could almost eat directly off of your patio table. Although plates are probably still recommended …:-)
One important note: normally after using your NORWEX Envirocloth, you can simply move from one job to the next. If your family does have allergies or does not want to begin having them, I would suggest saving patio furniture cleaning until the end of your daily cleaning list. As you can tell from the shape of both my Enviro Cloth and Window Cloth, their next destination was the washing machine.
As for our favorite Al Fresco dining recipe: grilled pizza. Making pizza on the grill is such an easy summertime recipe. The key thing that we have learned: do not add your toppings while they are on the grill. Instead, take the crusts off, so that they do not burn. You can use any pizza or bread dough, even gluten free dough. You can actually even cook a store bought pizza if you use indirect heat. You simply keep one half of the grill on high heat and keep the burners off on the other side. Closing the grill will keep the heat circulating without the pizza burning. (Put the pizza on the side where the burners are not turned on). Need some more tips? You can check out my other blog, Odyssey Through Nebraska, for our grilled pizza recipe. Here’s to many days of dining al fresco!
All ready for our next outdoor dining adventure!
