Have you ever had a package stolen?

It can give you such an eerie feeling and, of course, it is so frustrating to have someone take your stuff! Or there are times when the book you ordered arrives on a rainy day and sits in a puddle until you collect it. Annoying! Now you have to sort things out with the company, and sit on hold…for who knows how long….

Since my home is a hub for my Norwex business, I’ve come to find some great tools that help me manage all the packages that come my way. Companies are doing what they can to help protect your orders- all you have to do is take a couple minutes to set it up. As Benjamin Franklin said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Here are 4 services that I use to manage package/mail delivery:

1. United States Postal Service (USPS) Informed Delivery– This service allows you to digitally preview the mail you will be receiving. This gives you the opportunity to make arrangements to receive your mail, whether that means asking a neighbor/relative to grab it or running home before you bring the kids to sports practice. I loved having this accessible during tax season so no sensitive information was left hanging out. You can set it up online HERE.
2. UPS My Choice- Instead of wondering and waiting when the clothes you ordered online will arrive, use this service to get delivery alerts by email or mobile and track multiple packages in calendar view. You can sign up for this service HERE.
3. FedEx Delivery Manager– This service is the most comprehensive. You can receive alerts about when packages arrive, ask for a vacation hold, hold for pick up, provide delivery instructions, and sign for packages. If you want even more options, you can pay $5.55 per package to send it to another location, deliver another day, or schedule a specific time to deliver. You can sign up for this service HERE.
4. Junk Mail Opt Out– As a supporter of Norwex’s vision to reduce disposable paper consumption and for my own email inbox sanity, I was very pleased to find I could opt out of junk mail! Plus, those pre-approved credit card offers seem like identity theft waiting to happen. This process could take a little longer and you may have to provide more information, like your Social Security number, but as I mentioned earlier- the prevention is worth it!
