After touring the Norwex factory, we were then told that there was a big surprise for us…we were going to make our very own Enviro cloths!!! After some giggles and astonished looks, we got to work. The employees were all so sweet to help us through the process. I’m sure they had never seen anything quite like seven Senior Vice Presidents in dresses and heels trying to make Enviro cloths!
Step one was pairing up to cut the cloth from the bolt. We then used the template to measure the cloth to the correct size and hand cut it with a scissors. I have to admit that my cuts probably weren’t as straight as they should have been. We were having fun though, so on to the next step…
We each cut two cloths and then headed to the table under the bright lights to “inspect them.” I’m fairly certain our cloths would have failed a real inspection, but we “passed” our cloths onto the next station.
The next step of the process struck a little fear into most of our hearts…they told us we would be serging the edges of three cloths…one practice one and then the two cloths we cut, and sewing on the tags. Having never even seen a serger, much less used one, my heart was racing quite a bit when I sat down at that machine. Those machines move FAST, but the employees were very good about teaching us how to use the machine. I think they wanted to make sure we didn’t ruin their safety record. 🙂
We finished the manufacturing and inspection of each of our cloths and then Eivind said that he was the “final” inspection. He took one cloth from each of us. We finished up our time in the factory with a group picture, and then went back as a group to the conference room upstairs. We were so surprised when we were then each given a gift of our Enviro cloths framed! Norwex was all started with Gerd giving Debbie Bolton a red Enviro cloth. That cloth is framed in the Dauphin office. Each of us now have our very own framed red Enviro cloth, one that we made ourselves. What an amazing experience it was!
This was a day to remember for all of us. It was the first time Norwex Senior Vice President Sales Leaders would visit the China factory, and it was an amazing honor to be a part of that very first group! Thank you Norwex!
