Do you have a toxic relationship? A toxic relationship between you and your cleaning products? I have met many people that are interested in Norwex products but are held back by the fact that they don’t leave a scent behind. What is your favorite scent? Lemon, pine, lavender, … bleach??
You’re going to get a Real Clean with Norwex, but I understand if you want to have a scent left behind. Let’s talk about some options.
I wish I could tell you to just use air fresheners, but they are toxic too. According to the EWG, air fresheners contain many chemicals; “It’s literally impossible to track down a full list of ingredients for most air fresheners sold in the U.S., because there is no requirement for companies to disclose ingredients.” One known chemical is formaldehyde, which is a known VOC (Volitile Organic Compound), meaning that at normal room temperature they vaporize in to a gas (cdc.gov). Breathing formaldehyde? Yuck! They also contain “phthalates—hazardous chemicals known to cause hormonal abnormalities, birth defects, and reproductive problems” (nrdc.org). All those consequences just for a quick fix? Not cool! Thankfully, there are ways to naturally scent your home without chemicals. You just have to think outside the cleaning aisle.
Candles: Make sure you use 100% beeswax or vegetable wax candles with cotton wicks, because there are many toxins in other synthetic candles (check it out here). Many of these candles are infused with essential oils or you can just enjoy the light honey scent of beeswax.
Houseplants: Many varieties of houseplants have been proven to help you de-stress and purify the air of toxins! They may not be an immediate solution to odors, but they will help you breathe cleaner air. Check out this list of helpful houseplants. I love the orchids in my home!
Natural Air Freshener: Norwex has their own line of natural Air Fresheners. We use Bamboo charcoal to absorb unpleasant odors and return the air to its neutral scent. Place them in your car, by the garbage, litter box, or where ever you experience frequent stink!
Oil diffuser: These make your house smell amazing, and they can have different effects on you and your home. For example, thieves oil is thought to kill airborne bacteria when diffused. Lemon oil can be used in air purification. You can see that you can still get the scents you love in your home, just in their pure, natural form.
Its time to re-examine your love life- I mean between you and your favorite chemical smells! There is no reason to stay with them, especially considering these alternatives. Break off your “toxic relationship” and let me show you the healthy way to clean.
