Welcome to summer everyone!! I am so excited to start all our summer activities, trips, and Norwex ventures!! Is your summer looking pretty hectic? Wondering if you should delay signing up to sell Norwex or press ‘pause’ for the summer and pick up your business again in the fall? Well, think twice after reading Susan’s story! I’d like to introduce you to a lady who could have every excuse to be a causal consultant, but instead makes time for her business and has watched flourish! I feel so motivated when I read her story.
Susan and her husband Ryan recently moved to Wilson, NY. They have four children Nora (7), Ellary (6), Wesley (4), Eliza (20mo). Ryan is a self-employed forester with the aim of bringing sustainable forestry to western, NY. Susan’s “other” job is homeschooling the kids. Wow!
She first started using Norwex when living with family while her husband was in school. She was doing much of the cleaning and loved how easy Norwex made the job. When Ryan completed school, they moved to WI. A few months later, she was still loving Norwex and the the top thing on Susan’s birthday list was a Household Package. Her mom was nice enough to give the gift of Norwex. That following spring, her mom signed up as a Norwex consultant, simply for the discount, but Susan offered to host a party for her anyway. With only 3 guests and 1 outside order, she was amazed by all the free stuff she received. Her mom showed her how easy it was to enter orders and the rest was history. Due to a recent job loss for Ryan and an uncertain future, she waited about 4 months before she jumped on board in July of 2013.
She jumped in fast and ran with it. The Norwex incentives helped her to qualify and promote to Team Coordinator within a month of signing up. Things were looking bright, but just 2 months in, their family made a move from Central Wisconsin to Buffalo, New York for her husband to pursue his dream of owning his own business as a forester. Susan was one of four consultants in the greater Buffalo area and had no base of friends to help her get started there. Slowly but surely her business took off there, and it has been an exciting ride watching Norwex grow in Buffalo!
The summer of 2014 was her first national conference, an experience that changed the course of her business. Conference allowed Susan to start dreaming about what Norwex could mean for her and her family. She started to dream of one day earning her own red jacket upon promoting to a senior leader within Norwex. She returned home excited and ready, but had to reign herself in as her youngest daughter arrived just a month and a half later. When Eliza was just 3 months, the two of them traveled to Destin, FL for leadership conference. She roomed with ladies she’d never met and had to push herself out of her comfort zone.
Susan arrived at Leadership Conference in January 2015 full of excuses of why her business could not grow like the others she saw around her. She homeschooled, her kids were too young not to be supervised while on the phone, and more. I gently told her she needed to make time for her business and not just let her business fill in the cracks. Although she fought the idea at first, wallowing in self-pity, she flew home and promptly hired a mother’s helper just 2 hours a week and saw an immediate change in her business.
Within a few months she promoted to Executive Sales Leader and finally had a local team to spread the mission of Norwex with her! She had blown her 2015 goals out the water just a quarter way into the year. She sets goals and works hard to achieve them, then readjusts as she reaches them. Along her Norwex journey, she has invested in herself as a consultant and a herself as a leader and has seen the fruit of that.
Someone once asked her if she ever got tired of giving the same presentation at all her demos, but she doesn’t because she enjoys watching other learn. Watching others be wowed. Watching them as they come into the night saying “I love my bleach”, to then leave, educated and equipped to turn their homes into safe havens. But her favorite part of her business is coming along her team, helping them flourish as consultants and leaders. She loves watching them achieve their goals and getting to cheer them along the way…or maybe pick them up and dust them off on their way.
Susan first started as a consultant without a big plan of what it may be. She wanted to earn all the products for free (which she did), and she wanted something for her. She loved her kids, but needed to pour into herself a little. Norwex has helped her flourish and served it’s purpose well in that aspect. Norwex has allowed her husband to be able to start his own business. Norwex has allowed them to pay off all student loans and vehicle loans, making them debt free. With a recent purchase of their first home, they now have aspirations of getting it paid off quickly!
Just recently, Susan got to celebrate a promotion with her team when they were recognized as the first Red Jacket (Senior Executive Sales Leader) team in Buffalo, NY. It was a sweet time of encouraging words and recognition of all that has been poured into this business!
Awesome job, Susan!! I am so happy you discovered what you wanted Norwex to mean to you. It has been amazing to see how you and your family have overcome obstacles to be attain your goals!!
