Happy March!! As you are looking forward to spring time, I hope that you are considering the possibility of new opportunities, whatever that means for you right now. For some of you, it may mean becoming a Norwex consultant and starting a new business from home (Pssst! You have until March 16th to sign up to sell Norwex for FREE!!). For others that are already consultants, I hope that you are looking forward to parties that carry in some fresh air!
This month our Dream Team Leader of the Month is Kelly Brackeen; I am SO excited to share her story with you! She has learned to take small encounters and sprout them into a big business. I hope you feel as inspired as I do when you read her story.
Kelly moved to Port St Lucie, Florida from Wichita, Kansas 2 1/2 years ago. She first learned of Norwex in Kansas when her son was 4 months old. Through her pregnancy, she had done a lot of reading on the dangers of chemicals in your home and around your baby. She had been making changes but desperately looking for something better. She was at a home party for another direct sales company and overheard 2 women talking about Norwex. After the party, Kelly insisted on hearing more about Norwex. One of the women was a casual consultant and did a demo for her. She was sold! Kelly bought a household package out of the consultants car that night. Within a week, she hosted a party because she knew all of her friends had to see it. By the time the party was over, Kelly had decided her entire home needed to be a Norwex home. It was obvious that signing as a consultant would be the best way to do that and maybe a fun way to get out of the house once a week. Shortly after starting her business, her husband’s job took them to Florida. She dissolved her Norwex business in Kansas. Kelly is also a Dental Hygienist and has a true passion for health and wellness. She worked full time in Florida for about a year struggling as a mommy being away from her son, Cohen, who was 2 years old at the time. She found herself sharing Norwex with everyone she met in Florida. It was obvious she was being called to be a Norwex consultant and share the Mission. She then turned to researching top national leaders to mentor her from afar. She discovered a perfect match and reached out to me (Suzanne Holt).
Jump starting a business in an area where you not only do not know a lot of people but also everyone is new to Norwex is very difficult, to say the least. After a major fail with her big launch party and watching those little red X’s on her dashboard build up as the Fresh Start steps expired, Kelly was still determined to make this work. She decided to call and setup 10 minute appointments with every friend that would listen. She went to their house, did a 5 minute demo and left a Borrow Basket. Finally, orders were coming in! Friends back in Kansas were even asking to order. Someone told her about Facebook parties and suggested she do one for everyone out of town. Knowing that Norwex was a product that needed to be demo’d, Kelly worked for almost a month on creating a party of fun demo videos. She did a Facebook launch party that was a hit. She reached the $2,000 to qualify within days of the deadline. Finally things were happening and her business was exploding. Kelly reached ESL by July 2015. Perseverance was key. There were so many times she wanted to give up. Like when she cooked for 3 hours preparing a fancy brunch for her Norwex launch party, just to have her toddler vomit as guests were arriving. Or anytime someone looked at her crazy when explaining Norwex to strangers at the store or the park. The home parties that no one came and she had sacrificed something important to be there. Spending an hour talking to a potential recruits for no one to sign up. Packing up a vendors fair where she sold nothing. Kelly knows that although these defeats are discouraging, achievers prevail.
